Cambridge Lower Secondary

The Cambridge Lower Secondary is an international curriculum that provides a solid academic foundation for students in Grades 6, 7 and 8 leading on to the Cambridge IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10.

Why study the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum?

The Cambridge Lower Secondary (CLS) is a curriculum that is international in philosophy and approach, while being flexible enough to be adapted for an individual school's specific needs. It is designed for students aged 11 to 14, to develop higher order thinking skills and a strong academic foundation to pursue the widely recognised IGCSE in Grades 9 and 10.

The Cambridge curriculum is followed in over 10,000 schools in over 160 countries worldwide.

The CLS offers students the core subjects of English, Maths and Science along with Global Perspectives, Information and communication technology, Design and Technology, Second language and more to broaden their knowledge and perspectives. Assessments test how students apply their knowledge, rather than simply memorising information.

How your child will benefit from the Cambridge Lower Secondary programme

As an international curriculum, the Cambridge Lower Secondary will help your child develop a broader, more global outlook, become more culturally sensitive, while building a strong foundation for higher studies, specifically the IGCSE.

The Cambridge programme values deep conceptual understanding of topics and making connections between different aspects of a subject. Your child will learn to analyse, research, think critically and present an argument based on his/her perspective.

At GIIS, our collaborative learning environment, skills-based labs and studios,  various co-curricular and extracurricular activities will nurture your child to find their interests, pursue their passions and excel in all that they want to do, with the support of our dedicated teachers.
